NEW YORK () -- The largest transfer of wealth from the public to private sector is about to begin. The federal government will be bulk-selling the massive portfolio of foreclosed homes now owned by HUD, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to private investors -- vulture funds. DNC Chairwoman Bashes GOP For Supporting Foreign Car Companies, Owns Foreign Car

It’s a general rule of thumb that whenever a politician says something negative about their opposition, they better not be guilty of the same thing, otherwise they would end up looking incredibly foolish. The latest pol to suffer from this is Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Since she began her tenure as head of the DNC, Wasserman Schultz has gone on the offensive against the Republicans. She accused the GOP of “waging war on the unemployed” and slammed their budget proposal as a “path to poverty.” But her latest attack on the opposition backfired in a major way....

Stern Sirius about silencing Web stream

Howard Stern might have a new bone to pick now that he’s moved his risque show to Sirius Satellite Radio. And this time it isn’t with the Federal Communications Commission. The King of All Media is fighting some feisty subjects who don’t want to pay to hear the popular shock jock. Sirius and Stern’s production company, One Twelve Inc., fired off a cease-and-desist letter to at least one Web site that was rebroadcasting the radio host’s show — billed the “Show” — as an audio stream. The letter, which was e-mailed to the administrators of www.hearhoward.org and www.hearhoward100.com, called the...

CBS Doesn't Care (Hopes to Fool Listeners with'Jay Severin' Show)

(Severino Press Release Omits Controversies) With newly syndicated "libertarian/libertine" (read: anti-Bush quasi-liberal) host Jay Severin (real name: Jimmy Severino) still leading the pack, many controversies emanate from just a small number of questionable personalities. Even after exposes by the Boston-area news media on Sag Harbor, New York-based Severin's wild claims of winning a Pulitzer Prize for "online journalism" and other highly questionable assertions, CBS still went ahead with plans to take him national. What does that say about how very little has changed at the network since Rathergate? Teaming up with sister firm Westwood One, a highly misleading press release...

Stern Interrupts Replacement Announcement

In the middle of a Tuesday conference call announcing Infinity Broadcasting's plans to replace Howard Stern, a familiar voice appeared: Beetlejuice, the diminutive, snaggle-toothed fixture from the shock jock's nationally syndicated morning show. He was quickly cut off, leaving Infinity Broadcasting Corp.'s chairman and CEO Joel Hollander to explain how the prank only demonstrated the significance of the company's plans for a post-Stern existence _ a radio world where rocker David Lee Roth and comedian Adam Carolla will take over 12 of Stern's 27 Infinity markets. "I'm glad Howard thinks this call is important enough to put on Beetlejuice," Hollander...

CBS Yanks Report(er); Boston Reporter Fired, Terror Story Quashed

Was a veteran CBS radio reporter sacked after complaining about her spiked terrorism reporting? That's what Flo Jonic, now fired from WBZ-AM Boston, claims. Among her allegations: that her report on weak security at Boston's One Center Plaza was pulled after FBI complaints. When Jonic sent a scathing newsroom memo objecting to the censorship, she was immediately fired by local CBS/Infinity Broadcasting management.
